avatar generated using computer graphics, often controlled anonymously using motion

capture and other virtual and augmented reality technologies.

Vtubers typically have fully fleshed out backstories and lore to accompany their personas,

ranging from pop idols to Satan herself and create content that spans any in all genres from commentary to gaming to karaoke.

In 2016, Japanese developed Kazuna Aye debuted on YouTube coining the term Vtuber.

Within just 10 months, she amassed over 2 million subscribers

paving the way for what has since exploded in popularity with over 10,000

active V-Tubers across the globe amassing over 1.5 billion views per month by October last year alone.
