Summary

The old guy gets through! A day after qualifying for his first U.S. Amateur, Shane chats about the day, the experience, and how hyped he is to get out to Colorado.

Shane discusses what has clicked lately with his golf game, his mental game, and his approach to competitive golf and then gets into the day at Bonnie Briar. He also gives a huge shoutout to Kevin, his caddie for the day, for leaning into the aggressive play that led to some late birdies and helped him snag one of two spots into the biggest championship in amateur golf.

Bucket list stuff! Now let's go make match play, eh?

tournaments each and every year and I've played pretty solid golf this year and a day ago I accomplished I would say without a doubt the biggest accomplishment of my golfing life at 39 years old. I was able to qualify for the US

0:46.1

amateur which is at Cherry Hills this year and never played Cherry Hills.

0:49.8

I used to live in Denver and never got a chance to go out there and play that

Bonnie Breyer Country Club which was awesome by the way.

and all those types of courses.

1:08.0

And the Met Golf Association put it on,

1:10.0

shout out to the Met, they always do an amazing job

1:12.0

with all their golf

1:12.6

tournaments but I mean it was like 85 guys or 80 guys in the field for two spots and

1:18.7

two alternate spots and I have never played in the USGA Championship in my entire life. Never played in a junior when I was younger.

1:26.0

Honestly, I don't even know if I tried to qualify for a junior back in those days. That wasn't really, you know, a thing that you'd circled on your radar. I know, you know, the

1:34.0

really, really good juniors, especially, you know, my age division, which was, you know,
