So it's really important that we understand that the church, the believer, constantly, today

of us, we're alive, we're going through fiery trials. Nothing to be compared with the flaming fire.

They will punish the lost. They reject Jesus Christ as Lord is here when Jesus returns again.

It's going to be horrible.

People don't even understand it.

As we return to First Peter today, Roll will challenge us to keep our eternal future in mind

as we go about our daily lives, recognizing that there will come a time when we will stand before

God and give an account for our decisions. We'll learn today that the

path of worldliness leads to regret, while living for God reaps heavenly rewards and suffering

for Christ brings honor to his name. Now in the book of First Peter, here's Roll Rees.

We'll finish chapter 4 tonight. We'll pick it up in verse 17, but I want to start from chapter 4,

verse 12, just to remind us what Peter is saying here. He's talking about the persecution

that the Christians were facing in his own particular time in the first century. And what's

incredible, he starts in now verse 12. He says,

Beloved, do not think it's strange or weird concerning the fiery trials, which is to try you,

as though some strange thing happened to you. But rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's sufferings that when his glory is

revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. If you are reproached for the name of Christ,

blessed are you? For the spirit of glory and of God is resting upon you. On their part,

he is blasphemed, but on your part, he is glorified. And here's where he says, but let none of you

suffer as a murderer, as a thief, an evil doer, or as a busy body in other people's matters.
