Welcome to our new project, the Daily Bible Devotional. The goal is to help you understand and apply

scripture as you go through a New Testament Bible read five days a week, Monday through Friday,

as we move from Matthew straight through to Revelation. In under four minutes each morning, we will recap the chapter, make some application,

present thought questions for the day, and offer a prayer together.

Welcome back to our study in First Peter.

Today we're in Chapter 2.

Peter urges believers to eliminate all malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander.

Like newborn infants, they should crave pure spiritual milk so they may grow in their salvation.

He describes believers as living stones being constructed into a spiritual house with Jesus as the chosen and precious cornerstone.

Those who believe in him will never be put to shame, while those who reject him will stumble.

Peter reminds believers that there are chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and God's special possession.

They're called to declare his praises and to live honorable lives among non-believers.

He encourages submission to authority and urges servants to endure suffering for doing good.

Christ is presented as the ultimate example of patient endurance and sacrificial love.

By his wounds, we are healed.

That gives a different perspective on the wounds we may incur for our faith.

That's where the good came from what Jesus was willing to suffer.

We're taught to live differently because we belong to God.

As his chosen people, we must rid our lives of

harmful attitudes and actions and yearn for the truth of His Word. We're being built together as a spiritual

house with Jesus is our cornerstone. When we trust in Him, we stand firm. Even when the world
