I made my daughter's boyfriend buy a new shirt because it was disrespectful.

The 23rd of December, my daughter's 19, boyfriend 19, came for dinner.

We had a dinner then because he's going away with his family for Christmas.

He arrived, rang the bell, and I answered the door.

He came in, took off his jacket, and that's when I saw it.

He was wearing a t-shirt that said, it's not going to suck itself.

Buddy, to family get together? You wore that shirt to the family get together night?

The dad is definitely wearing a tie with a vest on kind of thing. You know what I'm talking about? Like a Christmas kind of vest? Business guy. I see it. I would really hope he'd be wearing like a pairing shirt. Oh. No, no, no, this is what he's wearing. Son's wearing, that kid's wearing that. The dad's wearing $20 is $20. I'm not gay, but $20 is $20. That's the shirt he's wearing. He just wears a shirt that says, I love to suck. Yeah, that I said, yeah. I'm not gay, but $20 is $20. Yeah. Match made in heaven right there. I mean, you can automatically assume anyone wearing that shirt probably doesn't have a lot of money.

Hey man, you got a dollar? Yeah, you have any money? I was just wondering, I might you up on your offer. He said no and asked why. I told him that the shirt showed a marked lack of respect for both my daughter and my wife. I pulled two 20s out of my wallet and quietly ushered him back out the door, told him there's a Walmart three miles away, and to buy a more respectful shirt and come back with it on. Fair. Honestly fair, yeah. You gave the man $40 of t-shirt money? Dude, that's $10 a t-shirt money. $30 on my pocket. Yeah. $5. T-shirt money. Oh, shoot. Dude, I'm going to the dollar store. Mind you, this whole exchange took place between him and I without an audience. That's good. I'm sorry. Not a scene. Walmart has some pretty good clothes. They do. They got some nice dress shirts. You could probably come back in a full Christmas dinner outfit. I had most of my work button-ups when I worked in restaurants the way I got them from Walmart. Yeah, it's nice. Totally works. He was gone for 15 minutes, came back with a nice polo shirt on. We had a nice dinner together and nothing was mentioned of the incident. Okay. Right? And that should be the end of the story, but we have like seven eighths of the story left to read.

Dude, what? You handled that as a man. Also, I'm proud of you because this young man, you're giving him an example of what a father would do and what you would want a father to do.

It is true. I mean, you know, you've handled this flawlessly. This is perfect.
