ESPN sportscaster Rachel Nichols got herself into some hot water after private text messages of her

complaining about her removal from the NBA final sidelines

were leaked to the press. Nichols expressed frustration that although she is contracted for finals coverage,

she was replaced by Maria Taylor, a black sports reporter whom Nichols described as a diversity

hire. Nichols was quickly reprimanded and suspended from air briefly,

and while the discussion has come to center on racism,

no one seems to be asking the most important question here,
