Triumph 111. Andreas, welcome to the program. Hi, Dr. Laura. Hi. I just give you a little bit of background first. Sure. Well, actually I'll start off my question, which is basically I need some help figuring out where to go with my career path, because I feel like I'm going to be a bit of a

bit more crossroads right now. How old are you? 19. How old do you think I was before I figured out I should be doing this?

Uh, mid 20s, 30s, mid 20s. Wait 30s. Oh, wow. You're asking an unreasonable question. There's no way in the world at 19. You have a clue as to who you are and what you want to be doing.

Even if you've had a passion for something. Okay, it takes time. At 19, if you had said, guess what? Some day you're going to be a talk show host, talking to people about morals, values, principles, ethics, problems. I would have said you had of your freaking mind. Okay.

So take that pressure off yourself. You're on a journey. And somewhere on that journey, you're going to go through a door and go, gee, burst. This is my door.

But if you don't have experiences, you don't have education. If you don't have the willingness to try new things, to expand, to take leaps, that seemed crazy.

Because this seemed very crazy. I was very serious, academician, physiology. I mean, this was not on my radar. And this was clearly what I was meant to be doing.

So it's going to take you as much time as you've already been alive before you know you're where you were meant to be.

And that's great because look at all the incredible experiences you're going to have. So start out with something that lights your fire now without worrying about being in your late 30s.

Because that's what put me here.

I just couldn't begin influenced by people, guy friends or family members saying I'm doing this. I think it's no sweetheart. What did I say to you? I said, whatever it is, you have passion about right now. That's what you should do.

You may not be doing it in five years.

But right now if it's your passion, it's going to add to your abilities, wisdom, insight, flexibility, openness, ability to deal with people, situations.

It's going to prep you for where you are meant to be, which you frankly can't possibly know right now.

So everybody who gives you their opinion, say I'm on a journey. Thank you for your input.

Yeah, don't let people push you into a place. That's their place. This is your life. You are the architect of your life.

And I don't care if your parents are mad, they're going to cut off your allowance. Do not do something because they want it.

Because that won't be your path and you'll never get to find out what you are meant to be doing.

Yeah, I'm so sorry to realize that. It's like I'm I need to stop. I need to think of using my own opinions instead of just doing what people think I actually do.

Expect a view, desire a view that they'd like if you did that. Well, so what? Tell them to go do it. Somebody wants to send you to law school? Tell you go to law school.
