0:53.8

8447472577 I'm going to get to some emails right out of the gate we call it kids electronic mail.

2:23.8

Kids electronic mail.

2:26.8

You've got mail.

2:29.8

I'm going to read two emails back to back and answer them both at the same time and actually I have had it seems like Madison I've had a steady flow of these subject lines.

2:43.8

Subject lines and here it is it's how to handle the interview.

2:48.8

For a new job while you're at a current job and you don't feel like lying to anybody love the heart on this so let me just read two quick with one comes from Blake he says hey can I was curious about your thoughts on transitioning from one job to another how do you approach your current employer when you need to go to an interview.

3:05.8

And cat writes in how do you handle missing work for job interview should I just tell my current employer that I have an appointment or should I take vacation time not sure what the best way to handle that is again I get I love this because we're going to a lot of these emails and I just it just occurred to me I need to answer them all one fell swoop I'll keep answering but if you need to listen to this go back to the podcast listen on demand here's what you do and cat really touched on one of them.

3:32.8

Do I take vacation time or do I just tell them I have an appointment.

3:39.8

I think it's a combination here's my preference I believe the most honorable thing to do to be a good steward is to take vacation time.

3:48.8

I mean we're talking about an hour hour and a half or schedule the interview if the other potential employers will do schedule the interview lunch time or take your lunch hour so I think it's a combination here.

4:01.8

So if your employer gives you a lunch hour and most do and they don't ask you to report in where did you go to date you go to subway.

4:09.8

Do you go to P.F. Changs how fancy was it to nobody asking that so that's your time that your employer is giving you need to be a steward of that.

4:18.8

So if you can do an 11 o'clock interview or a 1 p.m. interview and at your lunch hour and you work through your normal lunch hour in thus you are doing what is asked of you and you're being a good steward you're being honest and I'm fine with that.

4:31.8

So the only thing is you need to make the sacrifice so I think you either give up your lunch hour or you fill out vacation time and you don't have to explain what you're doing.
