...and... As we know from past episodes there were occasions when Rod Sailing would try and use the Twilight Zone to slip out a backdoor pilot for a show

that he hoped would then go on to become a series on its own.

It happened with Mr Beavis and then again with Cavender is Coming.

I mentioned this because the title of tonight's episode was later the title, apart from in the

spelling, of a popular US sitcom that began a couple of years later in 1965, and also featured

a genie.

So did Rod Sailing's dreams of getting a sitcom off the ground come to fruition?

We'll come back to that later on. So tonight's story does feature a genie and of course our

protagonist must first find the lamp from which their genie will come. And in this case, we meet George P. Hanley, who enters a store looking for a gift, and

bumps into Masters played by James Mill Holland, who, if it weren't for the different name,

could be said to be reprising his officious Mr. Armbruster character from the episode The After Hours.
