we're joined all the way from Bali

by photographer and visual journalist Marlin Fezahai,

who has worked and photographed in over 30 countries. Marlin's work is beautiful and moving,

often exploring issues of displacement around the world, and we wanted to sit down with her to talk

all about how travel and creativity are intertwined.

So first question right off the bat.

What is it that drew you to photography as a way of storytelling in the first place?

So I really got into photography in high school.

I was very dyslectic as a kid.

And so school wasn't, it wasn't bad in school, but it was definitely

something that I struggled with. And I remember taking a photo class. I think it was probably like

eighth or seventh grade. And it was the first thing that I felt like it was kind of good at.

And that made me feel really good and I became really obsessed

with it and just went to my mom and begged her to buy me a little DSLR camera and just became
