My Lord and my God, I firmly believe that you are here, that you see me, that you hear me.

I adore you with profound reverence.

I ask your pardon for my sins and the grace to make this time of prayer fruitful.

My Immaculate Mother, St. Joseph, my Father and Lord,

my guardian angel, intercede for me.

The 20th Sunday in ordinary time.

A reading from the Gospel of Luke, chapter 12.

Jesus said, I came to cast fire upon the earth,

and would that it were already kindled.

I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how I am constrained until it is accomplished.

Love has often been described as a fire. Jesus became a man to set the world on fire,

to set it in love, in love with God.

This is a glimpse of the sacred heart of God, burning in love for mankind, yearning for our salvation.

But to start with fire first, he had to undergo his particular baptism, as he calls it.

After his passion, death, and resurrection, the fire was ignited.

He then ascended into heaven and sent the Holy Spirit,

who now keeps the flame and spreads it throughout the world.

When the pericles came, tongues of fire were seen over the heads of the apostles.

Peter was on fire, and converted 3,000 on the first day.

Since then, the fire has never gone out.
