literally thousands in, but there was a ton of overlap. So these are the ones that came up the most

commonly. I've got a lot of thoughts here. So let's just dive right in with the first negative belief.

This is actually a set of beliefs that I grouped together because I think that they have a

I'm worried people will make fun of me for trying.

parts of my life. Okay, so to combat this set of beliefs, let's start off with a very famous

bit of psychology research. Years ago, a team of researchers asked people to wear a very embarrassing

shirt in public and then rate how much other people

noticed it. The people who wore the shirt overestimated by a very large margin, how much other

people even noticed, much less cared about the embarrassing shirt that they were wearing.

This led to what researchers coined to be called the spotlight effect.

Essentially, the mistaken belief that other people notice or care about us much more than they actually do.
