Good evening and welcome to the sleep story from Abide.

I'm Chloe and it's my delight to lead you into deeper rest and sleep through this story entitled I am the true vine. Tonight we will be learning to walk alongside,

abide and reside inside Jesus Christ. We'll be hearing about Jesus, our true vine, and our father,

the vine dresser, and the Holy Spirit who cultivates the fruit

and prunes us as we grow. We'll be taking a walk between the rows of lush grapevines,

and seeing how they flourish but never strive.

We'll be exploring this theme through the lens of our foundational passage from John 15

verses 1 to 8.

Listen and relax as I read verse 5 of the chapter from Jesus himself, I am the vine, you are the branches.

He who abides in me and I in him bears much fruit, for without me you can do nothing.

Jesus bids you can do nothing.

Jesus bids you come tonight and abide in him.

He invites you to lay down the striving and stress and enter his rest.

He is calling you to shelter under the shade of his vine, so that you can remain in him, and he can sustain life in you. He never calls you to take charge of your life

or produce fruit out of your own effort.

He wants to lead you along still streams and quiet meadows and bring you nourishment himself.
