Summary

On this Unfiltered, an anonymous guest opens up about how body image struggles, weight gain, and health issues in her mid-to-late 20s held her back from enjoying life — and almost stopped her from celebrating her own wedding. From dreading engagement photos and dress shopping to nearly eloping, she shares the turning point that changed everything and how she finally embraced the love and celebration she deserves.

My name's Anonymous, and I'm here to talk a little bit about feeling unlike myself,

0:13.1

going through a lot of body changes, through a lot of significant events in my life,

0:17.0

but going through it and realizing, like, no matter what size, how I feel I really deserve

0:22.4

love and compassion and being able to enjoy all of these things, especially as I am a newlywood.

I already know that I'm going to tear up and maybe more than that during this episode. And I cannot thank you enough for coming on

0:41.8

And this is an episode and a topic that I've just been really looking forward to discussing.

So where does your body image weight journey, like where, when you think about it, like, where does it all begin for you?

1:28.8

That's a great question. It probably is, I just turned 30. I think it probably was as a child.

1:34.9

And then it just kind of became something that I was always more conscious of, always more

1:40.6

conscious of every single year. But I would say that in the pandemic is where it really

1:44.8

started becoming a health problem. So when I, you know, I was 25 when COVID hit, it was no

1:51.6

longer just a health or just body image problem. It was also a health problem. And that for me was,

1:57.9

I got diagnosed with Hashimoto's. I got diagnosed with SIBO. I had a couple of other

2:02.6

digestive things going on. I still do. And I think the big shift for me was realizing, okay,

2:08.9

this stuff is going to be permanent for me and that's okay. But how do I still get to a point

2:14.4

where I'm able to enjoy my life, spend time with my loved ones, but also take care of

2:18.5

myself. It doesn't really matter what the scale says. Doesn't really matter what I look like. It's

2:23.1

about how I feel, how I show up with others. And I think that was the turning point for me.
