Imagine traveling the 400 miles from L.A. to San Francisco in half an hour.

This model of high-speed point-to-point travel, as imagined by Elon Musk, is called a hyperloop.

It's a tube through which pods of people and goods shoot its speeds of up to 670

miles per hour, on no wheels. The pods are magnetically levitated and pushed through tubes of

low-pressure air by electric propulsion. A hyperloop could be fully solar-powered, and Musk argues,

far safer and less expensive than high-speed trains.
