So starting with the topic of philosophical anthropology and me,

and might as well say, philosophical anthropology and you,

I want to step back a second.

And we've been engaged in lots of theoretical arguments and debates,

and we want to think about what motivates them,

and how do we situate those in our day-to-day lives.

And I want to distinguish with respect to questions about who we are and what we are,

two different, three different kinds of questions,

existential kinds of questions in ways in which we can ask who we are and what we are,

practical questions, and theoretical kinds of ways of asking who we are and what we are.

And to what degree are these able to be harmonized and ordered and coordinated brought

together?

And to what degree do some generate these other questions?

To what degree are theoretical inquiries brought about through our existential and

practical kinds of questions?

So first off, I should clarify what I mean by each of these.

By existential questions, I mean by each of these.

By existential questions, I mean the kind of inquiry that Aristotle and Aquinas suggest that we, at times in our lives, raise about what are the ultimate ends we pursue.

So if you think of the first book of the Nicomacian ethics,

or if in Aquinas of Summa Theology in the Primusacunde, questions one through five,
