Summary

The leadup to Hurricane Ian has been a total embarrassment from goofy live coverage to the clips from POTUS hitting a new low for stupid comments.  While millions are trying to stay safe and protect their property, social media is buzzing about comments Biden made previously about prepping for hurricanes.    The Nord Stream 2 pipeline under the sea from Russia to Germany exploded in three places Tuesday creating a massive environmental problem and Polish officials are thanking the USA for detonating it on purpose.  How do we think Putin is going to take this?    Kansas Athletic Director Travis Goff is speaking out about keeping his football coach at KU.  Lance Leipold is one hot commodity and as Dennis Dodd of www.cbssports.com writes, it's making headlines everywhere.    Andy Reid is getting more and more of the blame for Sunday's loss after botching his timeouts, Dr. Bill Busch and staff from www.nkcdental.com help treat 400 kids for free at Arrowhead this week and the Royals attendance hits a 47 year low.

One thing I learned pretty early in my media and journalism career was that media are not very good

0:19.0

about reporting stories before they happen.

0:22.1

And this is across the spectrum of news or sports, or in this case, weather, doesn't really

0:28.0

matter.

0:29.6

We see a lot of things, a lot of buildup, for example, to let's just take this week's

0:33.6

Chiefs game.

0:34.5

Okay?

0:34.8

The reporting's okay out there with what's going on with the Chiefs and the Bucks, But there isn't much to report because they haven't made a decision on where the game is going to be because of this hurricane. So it's a lot of speculation, a lot of guesswork, a lot of dark throwing. You know the drill. But it is even crazier when things like a massive hurricane approach. And I can't really add anything to

0:55.9

hurricane coverage. There's nothing I can do on this podcast. It's everywhere. If you want to

0:59.1

follow the weather, follow the hurricane coverage, you'll do so. But it's pretty obvious in

1:04.3

the days leading up to it now that the coverage of the actual hurricane when it hits will be better

1:10.2

than the coverage prior to the hurricane.

1:13.7

And part of this is the media's fault.

1:15.3

And part of this, quite frankly, is the fault of officials about people who get involved

1:20.9

in things that they say or do leading up to an event.

1:24.8

Classic example with Hurricane Ian.

1:27.1

As I record this podcast, it's still about

1:28.9

50 miles away from Sarasota, Naples, Fort Myers, and it looks like it's going to be a devastating

1:34.1

storm and really, really bad. We hear about a lot of storms that are going to be the worst. They
