If you would go to 1st Corinthians, the 12th chapter, and we'll continue on in some things that I'm excited about, and we've been talking about for some weeks, about being hungry for the Holy Spirit.

Somebody say hungry.

1 Corinthians 12

and down in the

31st verse

He said But covet earnestly the best gifts, and yet show I unto you a more

excellent way.

Covet earnestly, the best gifts.

Now, earlier in the first verse of the chapter, he talked about spiritual gifts, gifts of the spirit.

And here he says to covet them earnestly.

Now, that's a strong word, like we said before, usually in the Bible, when you see the word covet, it's telling you don't.

So this is a rare exception where the Lord actually tells us to covet something.

What does covet mean?

Covet is fervent, consuming desire.

And he warns us, you know, even from the Old Testament about don't covet, your neighbor's wife, don't covet, your neighbor's donkey or stuff or house or don't look at anybody's what they have and long for it number one that's a violation of the love

law if you love them you're glad they have it right if they got a wonderful spouse if they've got a

beautiful wife a handsome husband if they got a big house if they a handsome husband, if they got a big house,

if they got a new car, if they got lots of money, they're blessed, they're good looking,
