| 0:54.6 | pray for. Now as we travel through the Beatitudes today we meditate on the |
| 1:01.2 | fourth and fifth Beatitude those who hunger and thirst for righteousness |
| 1:05.8 | and the merciful, because there's a profound interconnection between these two. Jesus said blessed are they who hunger and thirst for |
| 1:16.8 | righteousness. Now righteousness may have a negative connotation if you think of someone who's self-righteous. |
| 1:25.6 | That's not what Jesus was talking about. For Jesus, righteousness means those who do the will of God. |
| 1:37.0 | Righteousness is to live a life of virtue and holiness that results in lasting happiness. |
| 1:43.0 | Therefore, when Jesus says, |
| 1:45.0 | Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, |
| 1:48.0 | he means those who hunger to do the will of God. |
| 1:52.0 | They have a burning desire for this deep friendship with Jesus. |
| 1:57.0 | Now remember Peter's words from yesterday's podcast, |
| 2:03.0 | Lord I am ready to go to prison and to die for you. |

| 2:11.0 | It was the right desire. It was the desire of a man who loved Jesus. Yes, Peter was weak and he fell many times, but it was his desire coupled with the mercy of Jesus that carried him to the finish line. |
