Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through scripture

with Pastor John Corson. It is our desire to bring you a systematic

study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, book by book.

Over the past couple of searchlight programs, we have been looking at the danger of bitterness.

Our teaching comes from a story out of 2

Samuel chapter 16 and 17. In this story a Hythophyll joined

absolom in his rebellion against King David.

Now at one point, Ahitha fell was a close friend and advisor to David.

So why would he turn on him?

Well, we learned that Ahitha fell was the grandfather of Bathsheba, and 11 years earlier, David had

committed adultery with Bathsheba. Ahitha fell allowed his anger to stay under the surface all that time, but finally the

root of bitterness resulted in an outright rebellion, and when the rebellion didn't work,

Ahitha fell hung himself and died.

As we conclude this teaching today, John will continue to share with us the danger of bitterness,
