Few things on this earth tug harder at the strings of my heart than seeing the look of

our grandchildren watching us as we walk up the front sidewalk.

They come running out towards us, squealing with the light.

Their tiny hands are reaching out as their faces shine with beaming smiles.

Both of them straining their heads back to look way up into our eyes, reaching up as

if to say, please hold me, lift me, bring me closer, and we just melt.

There is nothing we wouldn't do for them at that moment.

But in a similar way, what is your response when you approach God?

Do you come close for a reason other than merely coming close?

Are you instead just humbled to be in His presence?

I pray this meditation from Isaiah 40 will help remind you of your longing to come near

to your Creator, to submit yourself to the arms of God, to humble yourself in His presence.

I want you to imagine kneeling as you look up into the loving eyes of God.

Let's continue to rest here as we begin, escape into this time of humility, place to encounter

the presence and beauty of God.

No matter the time of day, settle deeper into this divine retreat of quiet contemplation,

as sanctuary to be humble before God.
