in a referees outfit uh from soccer slash football and announces he's firing the board of

uh pdvsa which is the state-owned oil company in Venezuela.

And interestingly, Chavez is remembered as the guy who nationalized oil in Venezuela,

but that's not actually true.

It had already been nationalized for quite a while.

It's just the way the company was structured was a capitalistic enterprise that didn't

benefit anybody except for the 1%.

And what he did is to say, well, this is already owned by the government.

Let's invest the profits back into the people and fight poverty and do all of the things he did.

He, yeah, funded a lot of anti-poverty programs and also put through a new constitution,

which fairly radical in that it established universal health care and education as rights for people in Venezuela and established political rights for women, the indigenous, peasants, workers.
