A faraway country of which we know little.

Well, I think the epitome of that would be Mongolia,

and so I'm delighted to be talking to Anna Butler,

First of all, Mongolia. Where and what is it? Mongolia. It is the most amazing country in Central Asia. It's sandwiched right between Russia and China.

A population of about 3 million, but absolutely beautiful country, huge, massive, beautiful place.

A long way away and difficult to get to.

You might imagine that it's difficult to get to, but these days you can get a direct flight from Frankfurt to Mongolia,

but certainly a long way and culturally, very different, really unusual. I think many people will

know that the capital is Ulan Bato. Talk me through that. Is it one of Asia's great cities?

I think so, yes. In the last 10 years, it really has exploded culturally and artistically as well.

It's a real hub for young artists and for music as

well. You may have heard of the Who, who recently became quite popular. They started in Ullambata.

Yeah, so Ullambata is a busy, thriving city in Central Asia. But most people are wanting to

get out of the city and into the wild.

Where would you take them?

That's right.

That is why people dream of coming to Mongolia.

I think the most amazing place to visit would be the Gobi Desert.

Of course, you have nomads moving throughout the year with their camels and their goats.
