Good sort of race show. Okay okay though. That might be the best question I've ever been asked. Can you talk about how your experience as a musician has been able to feed your talent or your style as an

interviewer.

You know, I still don't think of myself as a journalist. I think of what I do on song

explodeers very different from what you do and from what you know proper journalists

and writers and critics do. I think what I'm doing on Song Exploder really is, like you said,

it comes out of my experience making music

and then trying to translate sort of the way

that I think about music when I'm making it to someone else's experience of what they were going through when they when they were making it.

Because I always was a little bit sad about how much of a disconnect there was between the experience of the person who created the song and what they got to learn and change and overcome technically, creatively in order to make the song and you know in a very basic

level just being able to hear all the parts of the song by themselves those were

experiences that were really left out for even the most ardent fan.
