was an opportunity to play for a team that I had grown up just seeing on television.

You know, we had a good group of guys, good teammates.

We fought hard. We didn't have the greatest record in the world.

But the people enjoyed us. They backed us. They cheered for us because each and every week we went out and laid it on the line

and entertained them, played as hard as we could.

Sonny Jurgensen passed away at the age of 91 years old.

We are remembering Sonny, in my opinion, the most beloved athlete pretty close. If he's

not at the top, he's right there in the history of this town. Certainly in the 1980s, if you

took that poll, Sunny would be number one. And we're missing him right now on the air.

And somebody to remember Sonny and played with him.

And of course, knew him very well over the years with both of them,

giants in the broadcast industry, you know, after Joe's career as well as Joe Thysman,

joining us right now. So your reaction to hearing

that Sonny passed away. And thanks for doing this, of course. You're welcome, Kevin. I'm, you know,

I feel saddened. I knew Sunny's health was failing, and I saw him over the last couple of years.

You know, he's had that smile and just, you know, resiliency was a big part of who he was.

And I enjoyed the short time I had a chance to play with him.

I learned a lot from he and Billy, you know, just a few stories.

I remember one day had practice in 74 because I only played that one year with him. I remember in practice.

And I said to Sonny, how do you throw the ball so unbelievably well? I mean, it was the spiral

was majestic. It would sort of float through the air. He said, well, Joe, he says, you know, I take the ball

and I put my hands on the laces, I put my fingers on the laces, I take my arm back, and I let it go. And I thought, wow, I just got a lesson from the Dalai Lama of pass. I mean, it was amazing, because he would, he would step to the left, and that little belly of his his would sort of lean and that ball was like almost
