Ben is the insider for this team when it comes to Washington football discussion.

He isn't usually on with us on Tuesdays, but we finally have a defensive coordinator

after we spent, I don't know, 20 minutes talking about who they would hire as a defensive

coordinator on yesterday's show.

It turns out, we believe, it was the last interview that

they had. Durante Jones is the new defensive coordinator. I don't know that we've gotten

that official news from the team yet. Have they sent out a press release? I don't think so,

but it's been confirmed by many of the reporters out there, including Ben.

So let's just start with this.

I mean, we talked about him yesterday briefly, but your reaction to them hiring Durante Jones

is what?

Yeah, I mean, I think if you go back to the beginning of this, I would have said and probably

did say that especially having hired David Blow, a first time coordinator, obviously experienced and thinking that the head coach might have to spend more time over there, that instead of, you know, that they would want somebody experience as a defensive coordinator, somebody who had been that had done that job, and maybe somebody who is more familiar with Dan Quinn,

or maybe that Dan Quinn is more familiar with,

and there were some guys with ties to him from Atlanta or Dallas

all on the way that we discussed.

And here we end up with a guy who has not been a coordinator

on the NFL level who does not have any

obvious ties to Dan Quinn. So it's interesting that the perception, and I don't think that

perception was wrong at all, but just how things have evolved, whether it's because they

weren't able to get certain candidates to show interest in coming here, or, hey, maybe

they were just blown away by Jones in the interview.
