We are at the Capitol Grill, just steps away from the finish line on Boylston Street, the

129th running of the Boston Marathon. Will Middlebrooks is with us. He's got some work to do

Radio Network. So 10-10 pre-game and then 1110 first pitch today.

But I saw you post yesterday that April 20th, 2013, first game back at Fenway after the bombings,

was the most must-win game of that season.

Yeah, and that includes a World Series and ALCS that we should have won.

Yeah, that was, I mean, obviously, first game back after the marathon bombings and we're kind of sitting in our clubhouse.

We knew how serious it was, obviously.

We'd been following along with everything when we were in Cleveland and everything was going down with the Manhunt and all that. We're kind of sitting in that there was no rah-rah, like leadership, like, speech or anything to get us going. It was kind of weird. We're just sitting. Normally music playing in the clubhouse and we're we're sitting there just in silence it was a little weird

for our group because we had a lot of loud guys yeah and um it was just kind of like i like i say

kind of a quiet focus kind of we knew exactly what we needed to do that day and it was we couldn't

lose we just we couldn't lose that day with with everything the

all the pregame ceremonies with uh Boston PD and uh first responders um surgeons nurses doctors

victims families who were already there having just went through what they went through

uh people there who were missing limbs from a few days previous.

And they thought, you know, I'm going to go to Fenway.

So having grown men crying and telling us, thank you, when we're like, we're ball players, man.

Yeah.

We're just, we're just ball players.

People still do it to this day.
