It's something that is very near and dear to my heart and my wallet.

A news story from money.com reported that the average U.S. pet owner now spends more than $4,000 a year on routine expenses for a single cat or dog.

If you expect that animal to live for 12 years, many people would want their animal to live even longer.

It adds up to $50,000 total.

That is the going rate for being dog mom, dog down. Yeah. I mean, it's expensive. It's worth it, though.

The cost of vet care has gone up 43% over the last five years. The typical vet claim now. So you've got to run to the vet's office.

Maybe it's even for something routine, not like, oh, my dog got injured and I got to run

him over to the emergency vet.
