obviously it's the first day that we've all been back since the fire started on Tuesday.

It's really nice to be back on with everybody, hopefully provided a little bit of a distraction along the way, Mace.

But we were just talking a little bit during the break. I heard that you know, you and yours and all your people are safe and sound so that's good news yeah

totally safe we were not in the in the fire zone uh thank god but but thinking about and just

hanging on every news report sure since last tuesday and i i thought i heard emily shout out

i thought all the local news did a really nice job in keeping everybody plugged in and letting everybody know what was going on.

Probably as important a few days for local news as there's been in a really long time.

This tragedy is a reminder of why local news actually matters.

Because it's been hollowed out all over the country but times like this it's incredibly important

john you worked in local news for a long time yeah it's almost 30 years yeah i would imagine we did

you ever have an event i mean maybe not to this scope but where it's just all hands on deck 24 7 the way

it was yeah well people forget in 2018 there were fires not this scale, but in 2018, there were fires in that area by the Getty Center.

And so this is where, like Andy was saying, this is where local news earns its money.

Yeah.

And, you know, they were going commercial free for, I don't know, four or five days in a row.

For like 24 hours a day they were doing.
