A little after five o'clock on this beautiful Monday and we are joined by the

guest of honor himself the man who has been in New York media for 50 years. He is the former radio voice of the New York Rangers, TV voice

of the New York Islanders. He was a voice on W.F.A-N, a voice on sports phone?

Is that what it was called?

Yeah, you're too young to even remember it.

Well congratulations, 50 years man of broadcasting.

Now you start with your first like media job, was it sports phone?

And for all those of us who are young what the heck is well okay see

there used to be this thing called a rotary telephone yeah although by then I think we were

using push button but anyway sports phone was originated back in 1973 and

for whatever reason it didn't take hold right away and so they reconstituted in 1975.

Now, I had known Marv Albert then, having been the president of Marv's fan club,

going back to 1967, literally, when I was 13.

And Marv is just the greatest,

and I'm glad he's going to join us later.

So I could say thank you publicly,

but you know, he was a great mentor,

and so he'd listen to the tapes that I would make
