Most college swim meets look and sound more or less the same, but at Howard University,

they're very different.

Going to a home meet for the Howard University swim team is like going to a party.

The atmosphere is very different. It makes you nervous, but it's like good nerve.

Every day is exciting here from the music, the energy, the jokes.

And not only is Howard the only all-black college swim team in America doing things differently

at their meets, they're winning.

Today reporter Robert Sanchez explains how the Howard swim team has gone from an embarrassment

to a source of pride.

And why the team's head coach believes their mission is much bigger than swimming.

We can't overcome the fact that we can be in spaces that were denied to us and we can

excel in that.

And it's not just swimming and diving.

It's anything in life.
