For some, it's a right of passage many of us after adulting out in the world for a while.

We have to move back in with our parents for a time. I know Wally you're recently walking through this with your own daughter.

Yes, she had graduated college, was living with some other girls that were still in school, and then they all graduated so now their rent was crazy expensive, but there's five sharing.

So they had to all kind of disperse. So she came home to regroup for her next things. I didn't want her locked into a lease where she might be moving to who knows Korea.

Well, I know I had to actually move back in with my parents for a time when I was in between roommates because they kept getting married.

But it can be a bit difficult for both parties to acclimate and get used to living together again.

And that's why researchers after talking to many people who are going through this very scenario put together a list of four science backed tips that will help in the transition.

Okay, I like this because I'm going through it. So I'll have a perspective on this.

So number one, set clear expectations. This means will you be paying rent? Will you be helping with bills?

Yeah, so I don't do that for her because I wanted to save her money. That was the whole idea so that she could be prepared for the next thing, but the clear expectations on.

Hey, guess what? Remember when your room was a mess when you were high school. I let it slide no more.

Like you've been on your own. I want you kept your house clean. You'll keep this house clean.

Right. And number two, contribute in some way. That means do the chores. You know, just don't be a slob.

Also set a timeline. So how long do you plan on staying? Talk about when you hope to get a career.

How long you need to save money? Yeah, okay. And then number four, act like an adult.

So don't slip back into old habits. Be respectful of your parents home.

Yeah, that is a tricky thing because like, and she comes home and she's still my little girl, you know.
