When I started writing the book, I planned for it to be for the whole first generation community.

So meaning the children of immigrants, whether that's Mexican Americans, Nigerian Americans, Filipino Americans.

And I quickly learned as I was writing, I really have to niche down because this is not going to be as impactful if I try to keep it broad.

So I did niche down to first generation Latine because that's who I am.

That's my lived experience.

So I really, really leaned into that.

And my hope is that basically anybody that's like the first, the first to graduate from college, the first to be in corporate spaces, the first to have ability to build wealth in their family when their family was just living paycheck to paycheck.

My hope is that they feel seen, that they feel that they're not alone, that they understand that the reason money is hard is because it's been gay kept from us.
