Now that seems like a lot of money maybe,

but that is only because of one thing.

And the thing is that it is a lot of money.

That's the thing.

The CBO scored it.

And while they use a 30-year time horizon,

it is true that this amount of money the most ever

enacted by executive action will add to the deficit

or, depending how you look at it,

take away from other funding opportunities

to a degree that will have a big impact.

One argument for student debt relief over the years

or over the recent years when student debt has exploded

is with interest rates so low, it's a great time

to maybe add a little to the deficit.
