I'm David Brancaccio. Congressional leaders have now unveiled legislation to fund parts of the federal government for the rest of the accounting year through the end of September.

House and Senate leaders rolled out the first six spending bills for government agencies,

including the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce and Justice.

These agencies had been running on a stopgap funding bill that runs out on Friday.

There'll be a partial government shutdown starting Saturday if these measures aren't passed by then.

And some agencies are getting less money under these bills. Right, the EPA budget got a 10% reduction, the budgets of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms

and Explosives, and the FBI both got cuts of less than 10%.

There's additional funding for a nutrition program plus money for new air traffic controllers

and rail safety inspectors. The legislation also prevents sales of oil from the U.S.
