Summary

These days are hard. They aren’t what we planned, and there’s no end in sight. So how are we supposed to not only live through these days but to live well in the midst of them? The answer can be found in the book of Hebrews. But recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings, (you came out of the blocks strong!) sometimes being publicly exposed to reproach and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated. For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one. Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. Hebrews 10:32-36 Endurance, we need endurance. Here’s the good news. You can have it.

0:24.0	So if you got a copy of your scriptures with you, I want to read you a couple of passages
0:29.0	or verses from Hebrews chapter 11.
0:32.0	So grab a Bible if you got it, maybe grab a kid if they've been doing worship aerobics and sit them down.
0:38.0	And I'm just excited about a moment where we're all in different contexts right now,
0:43.0	but we're facing a similar crisis and we have an opportunity to let the Word of God shape our thinking.
0:49.0	So if you haven't yet, take a deep breath, let's calm our minds and let's let the Word of God speak to us from the book of Hebrews,
0:57.0	starting in chapter 11 verse 32, says this.
1:02.0	And what more shall I say?
1:05.0	For time would fail me to tell Gideon, Baroque, Samson, Jeb the David and Samuel and the prophets,
1:12.0	who through faith conquered kingdoms and forced justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouth of lions,
1:18.0	quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weakness, became mighty and war,
1:24.0	put form armies to flight, women received back their dead by resurrection, some were tortured, refused to accept release,
1:32.0	so they might rise again to a better life.
1:35.0	Others suffered mocking and flogging, even chains and imprisonment.
1:39.0	They were stone, they were sawing too, they were killed with the sword.
1:44.0	They went about them skins of sheep and goats, destitute afflicted, mistreated, of whom the world was not worthy,
1:50.0	wandering about in deserts and mountains and dens and caves of the earth.
