Hi, this is Alan Dershowitz on the Dersh show. I'm recording this program just an hour or

so after President Trump nominated Amy Coney Barrett to be a justice to the Supreme Court

to replace Justice Ginsburg.

If you've watched the announcement and you've watched the speech that she made,

you'll join me and saying wow what an incredible woman what an incredible

family I wish she were my next-door neighbor but is that a good enough reason

for being on the Supreme Court?

You'll hear my take on the Dershire.

Now we gather in the Rose Garden to continue our never ending task of ensuring equal justice and preserving the

impartial rule of law. Today it is my honor to nominate one of our nation's most brilliant and gifted

legal minds to the Supreme Court. She is a woman of unparalleled achievement, towering intellect, sterling credentials, and unyielding

loyalty to the Constitution, Judge Amy Koney Barrett.

That was President Donald Trump announcing his nomination for the Supreme Court vacancy

caused by the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. His nominee who is a very distinguished

law professor and judge Amy Coney Barrett did a great job in presenting herself and her family.

As somebody who myself would have preferred a more centrist nominee, somebody who would

uphold Roe versus Wade and reproductive rights in general, I still have to admit that the president did a very

good job in presenting her and she did a very good job in talking about how she was Justice Scalia's law clerk and how she wants to maintain

the tradition that Scalia maintained with Ginsburg disagreeing about judicial philosophy, but not being disagreeable.

When you watch Judge Barrett, you come away saying, this is the kind of neighbor I'd love to have

She I'd really like to get to know her a wonderful husband
