I've just gotten to Uteagvik Alaska, known until 2016 as Barrow.

It's April, spring in most places here it is 7 degrees. 15 knots of wind.

Not to state the obvious but it is freezing.

Gotta let the producer in the door.

Oh my God.

It's something.

It's actually, you know, I've been checking the weather forecast

and I was like, oh yeah, I could do it like three degrees, whatever. No, you can't. Cannot do it.

Okay, I'm going to be here.

Okiagvik is the very, very, very top of Alaska.

It's the northernmost city in the United States,

sitting on the extreme northern edge of the North American continent.

But even saying that doesn't really capture how far away you feel. It is

otherworldly out here. Snow for miles and the sky and the snow are the same

color so you basically can't see the horizon.
