I've been thinking a lot lately about our capacity for self-deception and spiritual blindness.

I don't know. I kind of think that we miss so much of what we need to see in

ourselves and even in the world when we think too highly of our own opinions, when we become obsessed

with the sins and flaws of others, when we forget to be grateful, and when we're anything but

profoundly dependent on the Holy Spirit for every breath.

Remember Paul said, my conscience is clear, but that doesn't mean I'm innocent.

The psalmist prayed, search me, oh God, and know my heart.

Keep me back from presumptuous sins.

Let them not have dominion over me.

That's another psalm.
