Hello and welcome to the Storygrid podcast. This is a show dedicated to helping you become a better

0:05.6

writer. I'm your host Tim Graal and I am a struggling writer trying to figure out how to tell a story

0:11.4

that works. Joining me shortly is Sean Coyne. He is the creator of StoryGrid, the author of the

0:17.2

book Story Grid and an editor with over 25 years experience. In this episode,

0:22.5

we start talking about a new project we're doing here at StoryGrid that I think is,

0:28.4

first of all, I think it's been a long time coming. I think everything we're going to take you

0:32.6

through, what you're going to learn. I don't want to give anything away until we actually get into

0:37.0

it, but it's really exciting for me. I think it's something that, again, has been a long time coming

that you're really going to enjoy. So Sean talks about that, give some background on it and how

0:47.5

you can be a part of it. So I'm not going to give anything else away because we're going to talk

0:51.4

about it throughout the episode. So I'm excited to jump in

0:54.4

and get started. So Sean, I'm excited, really excited to do this episode and record this because

1:02.1

just yesterday we opened up registration for something brand new that we haven't done at StoryGrid

1:09.2

before. We're calling it Ground Your Craft.

1:12.5

And so I want to kind of get into it of like what it is and why we're doing and how all the

1:18.3

editors are going to be involved and all that. But first just start by telling us what this thing is.

1:25.1

Okay. You know, when I wrote StoryGrid and when I wrote the book and when I

1:30.1

started the website, I really, I didn't have sort of this grand global vision of what exactly

1:38.4

it is I wanted StoryGrid to become. So since the time, and it's almost five years now, when I published the book

1:48.9

and we started, you know, getting more and more people involved in the website, I started thinking

1:54.9

about, well, if someone were to, you know, put the power of teaching story principles

2:04.4

to everybody on the planet,
