Well, I've told you the story about how a few years ago,

Donna and I, by miracle, were able to purchase a home in the area.

And on the side of that home, I didn't tell you about a tulip tree that was there.

At least I think it's a tulip tree.

The exact height of it I don't really know,

but those trees will grow at their full height anywhere from 70 to 120 feet. And ours was somewhere

in the middle of that. It was massive. I remember asking our neighbor at one point,

how old are these trees that tower over these houses?

And she said, they have to be over 100 years old. I said, how long do they usually live?

And she said, about 100 years. Okay. So we were out of town last April, and we got a phone call

that this great mighty tulip tree

had broken in half at its base and fallen with its full weight into our neighbor's yard.

Crushed the power pole. I mean, shattered it. Sent the power out for all the houses in our area,

right? And it destroyed some

lovely landscaping in our neighbor's yard. But thankfully, no people were hurt, but it took a whole

crew to carve up this tree to get the chunks out of the way. But I remember when we finally got

home, I was thankful no one was hurt, but I just went to evaluate the site.

What happened here? There was no lightning strike, no truck hit it. And so I went to the base where it snapped,

and I looked at it, and you could see into the center of the tree, and I touched the center of the tree,
