When was the last time you applied to win something?

Maybe some roughball, maybe some giveaway.

When was the last time you put your hat in the ring and you're like,

okay, maybe I'll be lucky, maybe I'll be lucky this time.

If you're shaking your head, you're probably a lot like me, I don't care too much for winning prizes,

I mean they're always fun, right?

But I don't always sign up for those kinds of things but I do sign up for a lot of things in

life I put my hat in the ring where many other people just simply aren't

willing to put the hat in the ring and that's why often I will just have people just

have the hat and the ring, and that's why often I will just have the success.

Not because I'm special or different or anything else,

apart from simply willing to participate, willing to be rejected, willing to not win.

And I want to tell you a very simple story that I'll always remember about a conversation that I had which made this really, really clear to me years ago.

I was living in Australia and a friend of mine worked at Qantas in flight magazine.

So Qantas is an Australian airline, it's gorgeous.

And you know when you get on a plane,

often they have magazines in the seat in front of you, just, you know,

the little back pouch area.

And I'll do different promotions, tell you where to travel, give you suggestions for

different cities where they fly to, etc.
