mindful. I'm Nicky Eisenhower your host life, Life Coach and Psychotherapist, and on today's episode I'm exploring the difference between mindfulness and hypervigilance. vigilance. One of the hard truths of healing from a dysfunctional childhood is that many of us have lived a lifetime of hyper vigilance.

If we've lived a lifetime of hypervigilance, it can be very confusing to consider what it is to live outside of that hypervigilance.

And our hypervigilance really seems smart to those of us who have been in survival

mode over the course of a lifetime and it feels not the smart to put that hypervigilance down because we don't know how to feel safe when in a relaxed state.

So the core issue there is this belief that becomes this undercurrent of how we live.

That we believe from a wounded core place that we should always be hyper aware and on guard to be able to take care of ourselves

and that winds up backfiring by exhausting us, not just in the emotional sense, but in the physical sense by keeping
