Summary

When motivation rises, intensity often follows β€” but more isn't always better.

Episode #247

πŸŽ™οΈ As March motivation kicks in, many people feel tempted to fast harder and faster.

In this episode, Megan Ramos and Dr. Terri Lance explore what it really means to "turn up the dial" on fasting β€” and how to do it strategically without sabotaging consistency. As vacations and summer plans approach, it's common to focus on how many pounds can be lost in a short window, but, as Terri reminds us, focusing on habits and behaviors instead of the scale leads to far more sustainable results.

Megan and Terri discuss alternate day fasting, planning in two-week blocks, building pivot plans for when life happens, and why meal planning is just as important as fasting structure. They also cover better progress metrics beyond the scale β€” including inches, body composition tools, glucose variability, and tracking hunger patterns.

If you're feeling inspired to fast more this spring, this episode will help you do it in a way that builds momentum β€” not burnout.

One of the things that I see happen a lot, people start recognizing, oh, we have travel in June,

0:05.3

we have this coming up, families coming here in the beginning of July. And sometimes the question

0:10.8

they ask me is, how much weight can I lose by then? And then it's about how hard can I fast?

0:18.2

How intense can I make these next two months? And I encourage them to focus on the habits

0:26.2

and the behaviors rather than the outcome. Hi, everyone. It's Megan Ramos here with another episode of the Fasting Method podcast.

Today I'm joined by my amazing co-host, Dr. Terry Lance, and we're going to dive into March's theme at the Fasting Method.

People are eager to fast. We like to talk about turning up the fasting dial, but in ways that are going

0:55.6

to help people actually succeed in March versus kind of being all over the place and

1:00.5

tripping over their feet left, right and center. Terry, how are you doing today? I'm doing well. March is a

1:07.0

good month. I'm excited about this. Lots going on. Birthday month for me. So it's all good.

1:14.3

March is a good month. The weather's turning nice. People are eager to get outside, starting to get

1:20.2

a little bit more vitamin D, feeling inspired. And it's great. The whole mood always changes and shifts

1:26.7

when spring kicks in. So I always look

1:29.1

forward to March. But one of the things that we always see is that this inspiration, this seasonal

1:36.2

renewal, really inspires people to say, okay, we're going to get on track. We're going to be super

1:42.4

strict. We're going to plan these sort of elaborate

1:44.8

fasting strategies. And Terry and I were just talking, you know, January can be a murky month

1:51.4

for a lot of individuals coming out of the holidays, struggling to find their footing after

1:57.4

whatever's transpired during Christmas and New Year's.

2:01.3

And then in February, vitamin D's at the lowest it is all year long.

2:06.3

Motivation dwindles.

2:07.7

We're so sick and tired of winter or rainy season.
