There has always been a battle between light and darkness.

Satan hates God and fights against his work.

It is vital that God's people recognize their place in this conflict

and are equipped for spiritual warfare in our day.

When we first got saved and started serving the Lord, we were all determined to be good soldiers of Jesus Christ, right?

You remember the zeal of your early days?

You remember the commitment, the diligence, the willingness to sacrifice, whatever the Lord wants, however I can help.

And yet somewhere, if you're not careful, you lose that spirit.

If you're not careful, you lose your desire to please him who called you to be a soldier.

And you get out of the fight, oh, you're still in the army, but you're not in the fight.

Today, I'd like to show you from the last thing the

Apostle Paul ever wrote to this young soldier, Timothy, how you and I can stay in the fight.

We've come in our study to 2 Timothy chapter 4. Now, you remember, we started in 2 Timothy

chapter 2. Thou therefore endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

And then in chapter 3, he gave us a good illustration of what that looks like through

Paul's own example and experience.

And now we've come to the last chapter, to 2 Timothy chapter 4, and in verse 5 he says

to him, but watch thou in all things.
