Summary

Today's episode is an audience question from Bobby, a creative asking about how to stay focused and finish projects.

ADHD and mental health stuff aside, much of this question boils down to aligning goals, values and actions. What I mean by that is that if you say you are going to do something, do it. It might be uncomfortable, difficult or humbling, but once you get started, the angst of feeling stuck goes away, replaced by new sense of exploration and growth. The last thing you want is regret around your biggest passions.

In this episode I share some of my thoughts to not only stay focused but finish projects. I get into a couple of my personal strategies to manage "fast mind" that comes up with a million ideas, and how having a few different simultaneous projects can actually help.

Enjoy!

Hey, it's Chase, a little cold open here, right?

I'm going to kick this episode off with maybe an obvious statement,

0:12.2

but something I have come to believe is profound, and that is this.

0:18.4

Procrastination, lack of focus, and or some form of feeling stuck are three of the very

0:27.0

most common challenges that we creators and entrepreneurs face.

0:33.9

Unequivocally bar none having sample size of hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of conversations

0:39.4

that I've had, of questions, social comments, etc. And so in this episode, I go deep on the tactics.

0:47.3

I'm fielding a question from a chap named Bobby about how to avoid distractions, how to stay focused,

0:53.5

and to work on projects that matter.

0:56.0

So I'm responding to his questions here as a part of my daily creative series on YouTube

1:00.2

that we syndicated over here to the podcast because many of you, let's just be honest,

1:05.2

want to listen to this stuff rather than watch it.

1:07.5

And I agree.

1:09.2

So I wanted to go deep at a little extra color here around

1:12.0

the tactics and practices that have worked for me, that I've learned from some of the top performers

1:17.1

in the world. A couple other points worth mentioning in here. The non-obvious point is there's actually

1:27.4

a benefit, and I would say something that benefits

1:30.5

focus and success in a handful of different metrics to have more than one project going

1:38.4

at one time.

1:38.9

And you're like, wait a minute, that's counterintuitive because we're just talking about focus.

1:42.9

I go a little bit into detail in the episode because I think that is, again, a counterintuitive because we're just talking about focus. I go a little bit into detail

1:45.5

in the episode because I think that is, again, a counterintuitive benefit. And I trot out
