It's time for a day trip to Versailles!
This week, I'll show you a great way to visit the town of Versailles with the help of Bertrand d’Aleman from award-winning travel company My Private Paris.
We took the train from Paris, then spent a day exploring the town, but never stepped foot inside the palace or the palace grounds.
My Private Paris is a local deluxe agency, crafting itineraries for tours in Paris and beyond (including, of course, Champagne). See what they offer here. Here is their full-day trip to Versailles.
Music: Pres Maxson.

0:00.0 | Hello, everybody. This is Oliver G from the Earful Tower here, and today we're going to the town of Versailles. |
0:06.4 | Now, when I say Versailles, I think a lot of people think about the palace. |
0:10.3 | They think about the grounds of the palace. |
0:12.7 | They think about the movies they've seen. |
0:14.4 | But the thing is, there's an awful lot more to Versailles than just that. |
0:19.3 | In fact, it's a very beautiful and intriguing town. |
0:23.0 | And today's guest, Bertrand d'Alman, from my private Paris, he insists that if you're going |
0:29.0 | to go, you need to spend half a day in the town itself. So that's what we did. I went out |
0:34.7 | there with him. We spent a whole bunch of time in the town, |
0:38.3 | specifically. We walked around. We saw the antique dealers. We saw the food market, the famous |
0:43.4 | old food market. We saw the church and the cathedral and we saw a few pastry shops. And we even had |
0:51.5 | lunch at the new cafe Pierre Hermé. And then on the way back to the |
0:57.1 | train station, we saw the famous Jeux de Pomme, sort of old school tennis court full of history there. |
1:02.5 | That's the brief version. But what you're going to hear now is him explaining it all, |
1:07.8 | explaining why you should visit it all on site. So the day that we went there was |
1:12.9 | a little bit rainy. So the only thing we didn't do that we would have done otherwise is a bike |
1:16.8 | ride through the grounds. As for Bertrand and my private Paris, if you're thinking to book |
1:22.3 | a trip out to that part of the world, do it with them. I'm teaming up with them for this whole |
1:26.9 | season. They offer |
1:28.1 | exceptional tours, very highly rated, and they can essentially do anything. Anything. I know this, |
1:35.0 | because I've had a few people getting in touch wanting to book tours saying, do you think they'll |
1:38.4 | do this? I say, there is no, do you think? You ask them and they'll make it happen. It feels |
