Summary

#190: Crossing the Atlantic is at the top of my mind at the moment - by the time you hear this, we'll be at-sea, en route to Bermuda, the first leg of what will be my 3rd, Mia's 4th trans-Atlantic passage. I recorded this seminar about our two previous trans-Atlantic experiences the Toronto Boat Show in 2016. Mia & I discuss weather routing, seasonal route options and best practices, and call on our friends David & Isabelle, who completed an Atlantic Circle on their Hunter 42 'Morning Haze'. To follow along with the slides, go to the show notes page at 59-north.com/podcast.

Ask us Anything! If you've been curious about something I haven't covered on the show, or just want to know what our favorite food is, send your questions to mia@59-north.com. If you want to get on the show itself, leave us a voicemail on 443-440-5411 - we'll play the recording back, and answer your question!

Hey gang, the music in the background is from the young, gifted and talented band that Mia and I saw in Frederikstead in St. Croix a few weeks ago.

0:19.3

Everyone in the band was under 17, and it was a free concert in the park.

0:23.8

A really cool way to experience some local culture.

0:26.4

So I hope you enjoy.

Mia and I are planning a special edition of the podcast in which our listeners,

0:31.9

that's you guys, can ask us anything.

0:34.8

We've been thinking of doing this for a while now

0:36.6

and recently got inspired by a

0:38.2

fan email from Daniel Christensen. He wrote, Hi, Andy, I was wondering if you'd be interested in

0:44.0

trying something different on your show. It seems like you're mostly interviewing guests that are

0:48.0

experts in sailing who have committed most of their lives to sailing. This is hugely inspiring and is

0:52.9

often something that we dream of doing ourselves. However, this means that we do not get a full opinion from you on many topics,

0:58.8

especially those regarding smaller sailing goals and how to achieve them. I have listened to

1:03.0

most of your episodes and have a lot of questions I'd like to ask you. Would you be interested

1:06.6

in recording an episode of your show where I get to pick your brain on sailing.

1:14.6

Yes, Daniel, I would be, but I'd like to open it up to everyone.

1:18.1

So if you've been curious about something I haven't covered on the show or just want to know what our favorite food is, send your questions to Mia at 59-north.com.

1:25.1

If you want to get on the show itself, leave us a voicemail on 443-440-5411.

1:33.7

We'll play the recording back and answer your question.

1:46.3

We're going to, yeah, I'm recording now.

1:51.4

On the wind is presented by Weems and Plath, makers of fine nautical and weather instruments since 1928.
