So today we're going to be talking about renewing your mind. This is a really hard one for I think just about

anybody because we are in control of what goes in and out of our minds and usually it's always tell people be careful with what you're thinking because what's in your mind is going to come out of your mouth and we all know that the Bible says in in the Bible says that life and death and the power of your words and so it's important that you realize that you are the CEO of your life and a lot of times if you stop and just be intentional about watching what comes out of your mouth a lot of times you look and you're not going to be a part of it.

What a time you look and you just if I dare you even to take a challenge and listen to yourself one full day and a lot of times we realize that what's been coming out of our mouth is a prophecy into our future and our life is looking just like what our words are saying.

And so that's why today I want to talk to you about renewing your mind and give you some tips on how to renew your mind.

Well the challenge of renewing your mind here here's a few how can a person renew their mind what help can I expect from God and changing the way I think what can I do to get rid of inappropriate thoughts in my mind what role do your emotions have in determining what you think about so I have two little two little examples two little stories that I want to read to you that will kind of paint a picture.

Of of of of not renewing your mind Trevor became a Christian two months ago he regularly attends church making new friends but he's still struggling with anger I can't stop my outburst I get really irritated at the way people treat me he states every day I pray to God but every day people will make me angry.

He also confided that he is constantly struggling with lustful thoughts then there's Harry Harry 67 years old has been a Christian all his adult life he grew up with the father who verbally abused him he says I can still hear my father saying you'll never amount to anything you are good for nothing and the damage still hangs on even though.

Harry is now a grandfather and loves God the struggles may not be identical but many Christians are caught up in major battles in their mind the promise of second Corinthians 517 sounds great which states therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation the old has gone the new has come

but where reality hits the road we all fall short is especially in our thought life the old way of thinking has not gone away many still struggling with temptations in their mind bitterness depression fear hopelessness frustration problems and putting it bluntly evil thoughts to be a successful Christian might mean to follow Jesus to obey his teachings to love others to grow.

I am a spiritual but this battle still rages in the mind you know I am human and every day I struggle with the same thing everyone else struggles with I struggle with the should of cut of some wood of struggle with things in my mind struggle with maybe even fear of some things in my future with things that I thought maybe expectation expectations a huge one because I have never

expectation is what usually holds us hostage because our expectancy of where we were going to be at this time in life doesn't look our life doesn't look anything like we expected it to so therefore fear creeps in and worry creeps in and oh my god I'm 45 years old and how can this all play out all the dreams I have how can they all play out because I've wasted so much of my life this is all been things in my mind over the last 12 years you know after I found myself at 36 years old facing the world

I'm starting over literally starting over I found myself looking at what I expected to be at 36 and how it looked nothing like I thought it would and I'm not even going to lie that depression wanted to creep up on me and it did but I started fighting it and the podcast right before this one we talk about that we talk about how to break that mess off of us and so I knew that this one is going to be a good podcast to do secondly because we have to renew our minds we have to

God's solution to this battle is not simply to pray more prayer is important but we need to do more than pray Romans 12 and 2 goes to the heart of the problem and offers God's solution it goes and says do not conform any longer to the pattern of this life of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind then you will be able to test

and approve what God's will is his good pleasing and perfect will I mean come on do not be conformed any longer to the pattern of this world man I'm going to tell you something those words are beautiful but when life is beating the tar out of you when you are fallen and you can't get up you know when you have made some choices maybe you created

those storms and now you even mad at God because it's raining you know what I'm saying it's hard to not be conformed this is why you have to be

intentional my word for 2018 is intentional be intentional be on purpose do things on purpose when I wake up and I'm on the wrong

side of the bed and life is hitting me I've got two sons you know 24 years old is Morgan and 22 years old is Lincoln and I'm over

here worried about them worried about their future because I'm a mom I have a husband that you know a 61 years old in a couple of weeks

and I'm only 45 and life can start oh my gosh you know I don't want to ever lose him and not that I'm going to lose him but those

things that the enemy will try to come in and overwhelm us and that is when you have to shift the trajectory of your

feelings the thoughts that you got to bring them into captivity and realize that anything that is making you have a panic
