How do we raise boyish boys and feminine girls? This is not a small topic. It's one that a lot of fathers and mothers out there are thinking about, including, I'm guessing, a good number of you

tuning into this podcast. This is something that I talk about a good bit, speak about a good bit,

really across the country in God's kindness. And what I want to do now on Grace and Truth with

you in this podcast is do a few part series about raising boyish boys and

feminine girls. And in lining out this series topic, I realize that you and I are marching right

into the teeth of a pagan culture. I'm going to talk about what that looks like in just a few minutes, but I just want to

say that at the outset. There is almost nothing that more offends our culture today than believing

and then practicing this reality, that there are boys and there are girls, and then that you should actually try to raise

a boy to be a man so it's good to be manly and that you should raise a girl to be a woman and so

it is good to be feminine when you say those kind of convictions even in a Christian audience today

in 2024 you will get not a small

amount of pushback. Here's where some of that pushback comes from very quickly before we dive in.

It comes from people having, in many cases, genuine questions about not fitting into cultural

stereotypes about manhood and womanhood. I'm going to cover

that later on in this episode and in the next episode. I'm doing a two-parter this week and next week.

I'm switching into more of a long-form podcast once again for a number of reasons. We can talk more

about that later. It's understandable at the outset.

Let me just say this to you very clearly, that men and women alike, boys and girls alike,

will in a Christian context, I'm sure, match up in many ways with how our culture understands manhood and womanhood.

I'm talking about in common grace ways, where our culture understands manhood and womanhood. I'm talking about in common

grace ways, where our culture continues to have distinctions between boys and girls, for example.

But I don't want you to think that you are to match up the Bible with traditional culture at every point.
